Natural cane jaggery (gur) block from India

What is jaggery?

Jaggery, known in India as gur, is a traditional unrefined sugar made by boiling fresh sugarcane juice until it thickens, then cooling it into blocks or processing it into powder. Unlike refined white sugar, it is not centrifuged, so it keeps the molasses and the natural minerals of the cane. This gives it its golden-to-brown colour and rich, caramel-like taste.

India is the world's largest producer of jaggery, with major production in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Bharat Agro Exports sources jaggery from producers across these regions to match each buyer's colour, texture and format, and supplies it to buyers overseas with the packing and documentation export markets require.

Jaggery products we export

Choose the form that suits your market. We confirm size, grade and packing with each order.

Solid jaggery block

Jaggery blocks

The traditional form, set in moulds. Popular with ethnic retail, food service and wholesale buyers. Block weight agreed per order.

Jaggery cubes

Small, uniform pieces that are easy to portion — suited to retail packs, tea and coffee service, and snacking.

Jaggery powder

Free-flowing granulated jaggery that dissolves quickly. Used as a natural sweetener in bakery, beverages, cereals and home cooking.

Jaggery confectionery

Our APEDA registration covers jaggery & confectionery, so alongside plain jaggery we supply traditional jaggery-based sweets and snacks. These include chikki (brittle made with jaggery and peanuts, sesame or other nuts and seeds) and jaggery candies.

Confectionery is packed for export shelf life. It can be supplied in retail-ready packs under your own brand, labelled to the rules of your market.

Frequently asked questions

What forms of jaggery do you export?
We export jaggery in solid blocks, small cubes and free-flowing powder (granulated jaggery), plus jaggery-based confectionery such as chikki. Block and cube sizes are agreed with each buyer.
What is the HS code for jaggery?
Jaggery is non-centrifugal cane sugar and is generally classified under HS heading 1701, subheading 1701 13. Confirm the exact national tariff line with your customs broker, as import codes vary by country.
How long does jaggery last?
Jaggery keeps for months when protected from moisture, heat and air. It absorbs moisture easily, so it should be stored sealed in a cool, dry place. We pack with moisture-barrier liners for export, and agree the declared shelf life with each buyer.
Can you supply jaggery made without chemical clarifying agents?
Yes, on request and subject to availability. Some producers use clarifying agents during boiling; if your market or brand requires jaggery made without them, tell us in your enquiry and we will source accordingly.
Do you offer private-label jaggery packs?
Yes. We can pack retail pouches, boxes or jars with your brand and labelling, following the labelling rules of your market.
Which ports do you ship from?
We ship from the Indian port that best suits the sourcing region and your destination — for example Mundra or Nhava Sheva (JNPT) on the west coast, or Chennai, Visakhapatnam or Kolkata on the east coast.
